Israel boasts not just one wine route, but several regions rich in vineyards and vintners: From the heights of the Golan, through the Galilee, Mount Carmel, Central Coast, Judean Hills, Judean Lowlands, and Negev desert, exceptional wineries flourish.
It just makes sense. Wine-making was a well-developed ancient industry in the region.
I specialize in introducing visitors to the many wineries in the Judean Hills and Lowlands near Jerusalem. In this region, ranging between 200-800 meters above sea level, within an a 45 minute’s drive from either Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, there are over 30 local wineries.
Our tour will begin at an ancient wine-press – the kind people stood in to crush the grapes with their bare feet. Then, we’ll visit a selection of wineries to hear the stories of the producers and their wines as you taste from their selections. For larger groups and special events, we can arrange to have a catered meal served at one of the wineries.
Don’t care for wine? How about sampling from Israel’s growing boutique brewery and cider industries?
